Looking for a winter escape to celebrate your honeymoon or anniversary in February or March?
Honestly, these months are the perfect time to getaway somewhere warm or tropical.
You’re fed up with winter at this point, but don’t want to compete with the crowds or prices of holidays like Spring Break or the Christmas season.
Whether you’re wanting a romantic couples vacation or are recently married, here are the best destinations for a honeymoon in February and March.
My list won’t be taking you all over the world.
These recommendations are based on affordable honeymoon destinations that are accessible from North America or western Europe.
Sure, we would all love to visit Bora Bora, the Maldives, or Mauritius – but when these destinations are pretty much on the exact opposite side of the world, the cost of flights alone are astronomical.
Also, let’s be real here.
Most people have one or two weeks to get away for a honeymoon (3 if you’re lucky).
So are you really going to spend 2 days traveling to the other side of the world, and then another 2 or 3 days adjusting from jet lag?
My guess is no, you want to make the most of your minimal vacation time.
And if you’re searching for honeymoon destinations in February, chances are you’re looking for a hot place to travel to.
Especially if you only have one week, you might be wondering if all-inclusive vacations are a good deal? Read my thoughts here.
The places on this list are hot and sunny destinations that offer uniquely romantic ambiance and activities.
Whether it’s your honeymoon or anniversary, you and your special someone deserve nothing but the best. Travel planning as a couple should be fun!

Best USA Honeymoon Destinations in February & March
Miami Beach, Florida
Miami Beach was just voted one of North America’s leading honeymoon destinations.
If want to stick to somewhere in the United States, with average temperatures that hover around 75F/24C (and the month with the least amount of rain), it’s no wonder Miami Beach is one of the best honeymoon destinations in February/March.
From long walks on the beach to gorgeous parks and botanical gardens, you could start your mornings visiting the dreamy sights with your iced coffees hand-in-hand.
In the evenings, try some sultry salsa dancing in the Calle Ocho neighborhood, also known as Little Havana.
You can even get a private tour through the neighborhood in a vintage convertible.
Feast on flavorful Latin food and then enjoy cocktails or a nightcap at Area 31 Restaurant and Bar on the 16th floor for skyline views of the city.
Book a sunset yacht tour where you’ll cruise by celebrity homes and view the Miami lights sparkle at night.
Or have fun on a glow-in-the-dark paddle board tour!
Stay at 1 Hotel South Beach, which was also voted the leading beach resort in North America.
Sanibel Island, Florida
Also nominated for North America’s best honeymoon destination is Sanibel Island, Florida, where peak season is from December to April, making a visit in February or March the perfect time for a honeymoon.
This island is located on the west side of the tip of Florida (opposite Miami), so you can bet on incredible sunsets.
For animal lovers, there are tons of wildlife sanctuaries here. And obviously the beaches are a major draw, but they’re unique because of the incredible seashells you can find everywhere.
Kayak over crystal clear water to the Shell Keys Preserve for a chance to see dolphins, manatees and sea turtles.
Try Bowman’s Beach or Blind Pass Beach for the best shells to collect (people come from all over the world to find the best shells here).
Rent a bike, visit the historic Sanibel Island Lighthouse and enjoy an afternoon ice cream.
Stay at the Island Inn for your own private beach.
Los Angeles, California
If you’re interested in a California city break, try a couple days in Los Angeles.
While the weather will only reach the low 70s (low 20s Celsius), February is still a great time to visit if you’re looking for an urban adventure for your honeymoon.
March will see slightly warmer temps!
First, make a reservation at the Hotel Bel-Air, nominated in 2019 for North America’s most romantic resort. You will love the old Hollywood style and vintage vibes.
Check out the iconic Venice Beach area.
Then, pretend you’re in Italy and take a romantic gondola ride on hidden canals nearby.
On a clear evening, take your sweetie to the Griffith Observatory and gaze at the stars together (be sure to make a romantically cheesy joke). It’s also free!
Visit Malibu for an afternoon of wine tasting. Watch the sunset at the Santa Monica pier.
And after a couple days exploring the city, gain some altitude and try a hike within Angeles National Forest for views of the city.
Better yet, hike to natural hot springs (Arrowhead Springs) which are at the perfect temperature when you visit in February or March (or any time in the winter).
And when your bodies are sore from walking and exploring, soothe those aches in the Beverly Hot Springs and spa, which is the only natural mineral water hot pool in the city.
And don’t miss the 360 degree views of the city at the OUE Skyspace LA and then take a ride down the enclosed all glass slide (if you dare)!
Best Honeymoon Destinations in Mexico in February and March
You could travel anywhere in Mexico for a romantic couples’ trip and it would be perfect.
Not only is Mexico one of the best honeymoon destinations, it’s also one of the best hot places in February/March to soak up that sunshine.
But I’ve found some spots that are extra lovey-dovey that would be perfect for two.
Cabo San Lucas
February is the perfect time to visit Cabo if you want hot weather but not sweltering hot. Average February temperatures hit around 80F/26C with March being slightly warmer.
It’s also one of the closest resort areas to the US, so you can expect shorter flight times (well under 3 hours from LAX).
Despite its early tourism draw of spring breakers and its wild night clubs, more recently it’s become a sought after romantic destination.
The incredible landscapes in Cabo are like nowhere else in Mexico. Go for a hand in hand stroll at the secluded Lovers Beach (Playa del Amor) – so tucked away that it’s only accessible by boat.
Then snap some photos of the famous arch (el archo) where the ocean water has carved its way through the cliff side.
The ocean here is rough and the undertows can be strong, so water activities should be done through tours, where local guides can show you the best spots for swimming and snorkeling.
Try this glass-bottom boat tour for a unique perspective of the area (including checking out the sunbathing sea lions).
Then finish off with a romantic sunset sailing cruise.
And if you’re not yet convinced that Los Cabos is the best place for a honeymoon in February, the One&Only Palmilla was the 2018 World Travel Awards winner for Mexico’s Most Romantic Resort, and was nominated in 2019 for the World’s Leading Honeymoon Resort.
Puerto Vallarta and Bucerías
Is there anything more romantic than watching the cotton candy sunset as you and your loved one are snuggled up in the sand sharing a bottle of wine or champagne?
Sunset lovers should plan a February or March honeymoon in either Puerto Vallarta or Bucerías (30 minutes north).
As you’re on the west coast of Mexico, there is no better place to watch the sun go down. You can expect average daily highs in the low 80s (27C) and pleasantly warm ocean water to dip your toes in.
Puerto Vallarta has all kinds of hidden coves and beaches for some quiet time with your new spouse.
There’s even an entire neighborhood called the ‘Romantic Zone’ making Puerto Vallarta an obvious choice for a honeymoon in February/March.
Take your time and wander down the Malecon (a boardwalk along the beach), where many locals call it the ‘walk of love.’
Grab a seat with a view at the Top Sky Bar & Restaurant and gobble up some fresh oysters, which we all know are an aphrodisiac...
For the ultimate romantic oasis, stay at the Villa Lala Boutique Hotel, a treetop hotel that reminds of somewhere you might find in Bali!
Be sure to book the suite with your own private infinity pool that overlooks the ocean from the treetops.
Or, if you’re in the mood for a low key honeymoon, head north of Puerto Vallarta to the charming town of Bucerías. It’s a small bedroom community with a large expat population, so it’s very safe.
It’s much smaller than Puerto Vallarta, but is easier to get around and has incredible restaurants.
Like an open air restaurant called La Postal, where you sit under the tree canopies all lit up with string lights and you feel like you’re in an enchanted garden.
Perfect for those who don’t want to stay in an all inclusive, stay at Unelma Bungalows for your own private oasis right on the beach, and also right next door to a jazz club.

Riviera Maya and Tulum Area
For soft white sandy beaches and jade colored water, the Riviera Maya region in Mexico is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Although February weather is one of the ‘cooler’ months to visit this side of Mexico, the average daily highs are still in the low 80s (28C), making it the ideal month to visit. March temperatures will be about the same.
And did you know that you don’t have to travel to the Maldives or Bora Bora to stay in your own private over-water bungalow?
Yes, just over 30 minutes south of the Cancun airport are the Palafitos Overwater Bungalows – a collection of private villas, complete with glass bottom floors and ladders for direct access to the ocean
If you’re in the mood for an all inclusive resort where everything is taken care of for you, this is where you will find the most choices.
For your honeymoon, opt for an adult-only resort, where you receive an added layer of luxury and are treated like royalty.
Between the turquoise tropical vibes and swimming in the underground freshwater cenotes, I can’t think of a better place for a honeymoon in February.
Stay: Hotel Habitas Tulum or Secrets Akumal to be close to some incredible Mayan ruins, Tulum and Coba.
If you’re not much of a vacation planner but want to spend a week or two somewhere hot, be pampered and maybe check out some sites, Mexico’s Riviera Maya coast is a great option.
There are plenty of excursions that will be planned out for you depending what you want to do.
From cenotes and colonial cities, to private snorkeling tours on secluded islands, to your own private beach cabana with a couples massage, it’s impossible not to create incredible honeymoon memories here.

The Caribbean
Cayman Islands
Almost right in the middle of Cancun, Cuba and Jamaica are the Cayman Islands. And if part of your honeymoon search criteria includes hot weather, it’s one of the best hot places to travel in February or March.
Daily highs in the mid-80s (29C) and one of the months with the least amount of rain will be sure to please sun seekers.
This Caribbean gem is a hot spot for diving and deep sea fishing.
There are 3 islands here- for honeymooners, stick to the East end of the Grand Cayman or either of the 2 smaller islands (Cayman Brac and Little Cayman).
Swimming with stingrays is probably the most well known activities here. Or take the incredible opportunity to go snorkeling after dark and experience the bioluminescence phenomenon.
And unlike places like Cabo, the ocean water here is almost unnaturally calm, making it a perfect snorkeling destination.
And if you’re looking to splurge a little on your honeymoon, luxury resorts are world class here, like the The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa.
Or the Ritz Carlton for the floating hammocks!
St. Lucia
Another big winner on the list- St. Lucia was named the world’s leading honeymoon destination for 2019.
From the volcanic landscapes and mountainous terrain surrounded by the white sandy beaches, St. Lucia is probably one of the dreamiest destinations for a romantic holiday.
Temperatures in the mid 80s will please sun worshipers looking for the best place for a honeymoon in February.
There are incredible options for all inclusive resorts perfect for couples, including the luxurious and brand new over water bungalows by Sandals.
With rooms called the ‘honeymoon bungalows’ and private over-the-water hammocks built for 2, blissful paradise awaits.
Besides the obvious activity of rest and relaxation, there are some pretty unique activities to check out not found on any other of the Caribbean islands.
The most famous being the hot mud bath experience, heated from the underground volcanic activity.
Or take a tour through the treetops of the rain forest in an open air gondola.
Don’t forget the most intimate dining spot built onto a cliff overlooking the sea, where it’s so private they serve you champagne via a zipline!
Adventure, beauty and romance in St. Lucia combine for the ultimate honeymoon destination.

Aruba
Hot weather lovers unite! February marks the end of rainy season (which is pretty dry compared to other Caribbean islands) making it a pretty reliable choice for ensuring nice weather on your vacation.
You will likely get the most sun here during this time of year as well, compared to the other Caribbean islands.
For adventure seekers, the Conchi natural pool is one of the most popular natural attractions here. With waves crashing over the rocks to keep the ‘pool’ full, there’s no other experience like it.
Don’t miss two of the most photographed trees in the world, the fofoti trees. Two trees that have managed to grow in the middle of the beach and lean heavily toward the ocean from the trade winds (found on Eagle Beach).
And if you want to frolic with the flamingos on the famous Flamingo Beach, be sure to stay at the Renaissance Resort Aruba, which owns the private beach.
Aruba is convenient for many North Americans as there are lots of direct flights from the US, no Visas required for Americans, Canadians and many Eurpeans, and US dollars are widely accepted.
Perfect weather, unique adventures and easy access make Aruba the best place for a honeymoon in February.
Belize
If you’re on the search for a honeymoon destination off the beaten path, Belize might be just the place.
It’s located just south of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and February is one of the best times to visit, with hot reliable weather and few mosquitoes.
With lots of daily flights to Belize, no Visas required for most countries, and with the official language being English, traveling around Belize is easy.
Home to the largest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s a snorkeler and diver’s paradise.
Pay special attention to Placencia – it’s got all the outdoor adventure you can handle, but miles of long sandy beaches to relax and soak up the sun. Plus, it doesn’t have mega resorts, so you’ll get all the alone time you’re craving.

For the responsible traveler in you, Belize’s tourism industry is a leader in sustainable tourism and has many Eco Resorts for the mindful traveler.
Try the Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge or the Xanadu Island Resort.
For more over-water bungalows, try the Thatch Caye Resort a Muy’Ono Resort on a private island or Cayo Espanto for ultimate seclusion.
From its tropical beaches to hidden jungle ruins, it’s similar to Mexico but without the crowds, and is a great option for a honeymoon if you’re on a budget.
Check out the unique experience of going tubing through a network of caves above the underground rivers. An do go chasing waterfalls, like the
Thousand Foot Fall (tallest in Central America) or Butterfly Falls where you can swim in the basin.
Jamaica
The laid back rhythms of Jamaica might just be the vibe you’re looking for in your search for the best place for a honeymoon in February or March.
With many flights and all inclusive packages available, everything is taken care of.
February and March temperatures stay between 80-85F and you can choose between overwater villas at Sandals in Montego Bay or stay in private cliff-side accommodations, at the luxurious Caves Hotel.
For white powdery sugar sand and more privacy, stay on Seven Mile Beach. Ocho Rios has many options like this too, with Montego Bay being the busier urban hub.
Splash around at Dunns River Falls, full of natural waterslides from the multiple layers and tiers of smaller waterfalls. Book a tour in advance to avoid having to negotiate with taxi drivers and tour guides.
Or combine a tour with a visit to the Bob Marley museum. Take a river cruise for two on a bamboo raft.
Or go find the Blue Lagoon, famous for its vibrant turquoise-jade colored water.
Grenada
If you want to spend your honeymoon at the 2019 world’s leading honeymoon resort, head to Sandals Grenada (who took home the trophy).
You can even take a virtual tour on their website to see what it’s all about.
With incredible rooms to choose from like private infinity pools or your own beachfront terrace, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the average 86F/30C February/March temperatures.
Plus, it’s only a few minutes away from the airport, so you won’t be wasting any of that precious vacation time traveling more than you have to.
Grenada is known as the ‘Spice Island’ because of its numerous spice plantations all over the island, including its biggest crop, nutmeg! But also cinnamon, cloves, ginger and cocoa.
History buffs will love learning about the 17th century arrival of the Europeans, as it was one of the Caribbean’s first major ports. And don’t miss the chance to roam around the Fort George fortress.
Then take part in an agro-tourism hike, where you first visit local markets, visit some spice plantations and then hike through the rainforest to several waterfalls.
Take a tour of one of the world’s oldest rum distilleries still in operation today. Don’t forget to get your fill of Caribbean jerk chicken!
Plus, English is the official language in Grenada, making it another great honeymoon destination in February.
