Stuck deciding between staying at Planet Hollywood or the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas?
The location of each hotel is fantastic, so it really comes down to prices, views from the rooms, amenities (like the pools), access to dining options and overall crowd vibe.
In this post, we’re going to compare all of these factors to help you decide between staying at either Planet Hollywood or the Flamingo in Las Vegas.

Rooms and Prices
Both of these hotels are part of the Caesars Entertainment Group. They’re both mid-range hotels, so prices are going to be roughly the same, with Planet Hollywood slightly higher.
Planet Hollywood is a newer hotel than the Flamingo and has modern rooms with views of the Bellagio Fountains.
Flamingo also offers Strip view rooms. But even the cheap rooms that face the pool are still very nice.
This hotel is starting to show its age though, so if some dated carpet and rooms don’t interest you, I would choose Planet Hollywood.
You will find rooms at the Flamingo Hotel are cheaper, and I think this is to reflect some aging aspects.
You’ll find some people describe the Flamingo as a dump.
And if you’re expecting a shiny and fancy hotel you’ll be thoroughly disappointed.
However, I don’t mind it. It’s cheap, is in a great location and has a fabulous pool.
I only spend a short period of time in the rooms so the rooms and the aesthetic doesn’t really bother me.
Plus, I do enjoy the ‘old Vegas’ feel that still lingers at the Flamingo. It’s one of the first hotels built on the Strip and they’re starting to bring back the vintage mob-era theme.
At Planet Hollywood, things are a little more expensive (nothing crazy though) and better maintained and well kept.
The overall feel at Planet Hollywood just seems a little more fresh. The most basic rooms at Planet Hollywood are quite spacious in comparison, coming in at about 430 square feet.
If you want a nice and modern feeling mid-range hotel in Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood is a clear winner.
Resort Fees
Flamingo has some one of the cheapest resort fees on the strip at $39.95 per night.
Planet Hollywood’s resort fees are $45.95 per night.
Which Hotel has the Better Location?
Both the Planet Hollywood and Flamingo hotels are considered somewhere in the center of the Strip.
So as far as location goes, you really can’t go wrong with either one. It’s only about a 5 – 7 minute walk between the two.
That being said, if you stay at the Flamingo, you’ll be in the center of the Strip with quicker access to the north part of the Strip.
So if you want to explore more of Caesars Palace, the Linq, the Venetian, the Mirage, Treasure Island, the Strat and Resorts World, choose Flamingo.
If you’re planning to spend a lot of time at Caesars Palace and/or the Bellagio, the Flamingo hotel is the better option location-wise.
If you prefer to be in the center Strip with quicker access to the south Strip hotels, Planet Hollywood is the best choice. Here you can visit Paris, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Aria, MGM, Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
If I was choosing one of these two hotels based on location alone, I would choose the Flamingo Hotel.
I prefer the more centralized location and being that much closer toward Fremont Street (downtown Las Vegas).
Casino
The casino at the Flamingo isn’t huge, but it’s always lively and bustling.
The vibe is casual but can get pretty rowdy at night with lots of loud music. It’s a fun atmosphere though.
What I like about the casino at the Flamingo Hotel is that you can immediately walk onto the casino floor from the sidewalk, so it gets a lot of action from people walking by.
Since it opens up onto the Strip, it gets lots of fresh air. So if a stuffy, smoky casino bothers you, choose the Flamingo.
The vibe at the Planet Hollywood casino is really fun. They play good music and seems to attract a younger crowd, I’d say a mix of people in their 20, 30s and 40s.
Pools
The pool at the Flamingo is one of the best in all of Las Vegas.
So if a good pool is a priority for your Vegas vacation, staying at the Flamingo is a no brainer.
The pool is definitely geared toward a younger party crowd.
But even if you’re not into the party scene, weekdays at the GO pool can be pretty chill.
The pools at Planet Hollywood are bland and boring compared to the one at the Flamingo.
However, there is an adult only pool with a live DJ and cabanas for rent.
There’s also a FlowRider wave machine, so you can try to catch some mad barrels!
Inside tip: If you are leaning toward staying at Planet Hollywood but the pool situation is holding you back, you can still use the pool at the Flamingo! As long as you’re a guest at a Caesar’s property, this is allowed.
Dining and Shopping Options
Planet Hollywood is home to the Miracle Mile shops, including some of the cheapest places to eat on the Las Vegas Strip.
Inside you’ll find Ocean One Bar & Grill, where breakfast is $5.99 and every lunch menu item is $4.99!
If you’re planning to do your Las Vegas trip on a budget, Planet Hollywood has a variety of inexpensive restaurants on the property, so you don’t have to go far.
I’ll be honest, the restaurants within the Flamingo aren’t really anything to write home about. I’ve stayed multiple times at the Flamingo and never really eat onsite.
The one exception is Margaritaville, which is a decent place if you’re in the mood for a themed restaurant.
That being said, the Flamingo is attached to the Linq Promenade, which is an amazing and lively area of restaurants, shops and entertainment.
It’s also home to the High Roller Observation Wheel, which I think everyone should do at least once!
I also recommend trying the frozen Baileys drink from O’Sheas on a hot day.
Parking
Parking fees are the same at both properties. $18 per day from Monday to Thursday and $23 per day from Friday to Sunday.
If you are a Caesars Rewards members at the Diamond, Platinum or Seven Stars levels, parking is free.
Overall Comparison – Is Planet Hollywood or Flamingo better?
All things considered, Planet Hollywood is a nicer property with better dining options.
If you just want the cheapest room in a great location with one of the best pools, Flamingo is the way to go.
Both Planet Hollywood and the Flamingo attract a younger, casual and fun crowd.
Booking Your Hotel
Now that you’ve decided where to stay, it’s time to book.
It’s always best to book directly with the hotel, and even better if you’re signed up for their rewards program.
This gives you a better chance at a free (or discounted) room upgrade upon check-in, as well as comped (free) rooms for future stays.
Book the Planet Hollywood Hotel direct here.
Book the Flamingo Hotel direct here.
